(Washington, DC) - The Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Transportation would like to inform the public of street closures in conjunction with the 2018 Fourth of July Celebration.
The following streets will be closed, except to emergency vehicles, from 5 am until approximately 11 pm:
The following streets will be closed from approximately 1400 until 2300 hours:
The 3rd Street tunnel will remain open for the entire day. The 9th Street and 12th Street tunnels will be closed during the Independence Day Parade from approximately 1115 hours until approximately 1600 hours.
There will be eight entry points along the perimeter through which citizens may enter the Mall. The pedestrian access points are as follows and open at 1000 hours:
The following roads will be closed from approximately 9 AM until 1130 AM:
The following roads will be closed from approximately 830 AM until 12 PM:
On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, National Archives July 4th Declaration of Independence Reading will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be one street closure that motorists should take into consideration:
Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm
The public should expect parking restrictions along the route and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked along the route and in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions. Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
