Mayor Bowser to Mark Completion of Monroe Street Bridge Rehabilitation
(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, November 23 at 11:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will cut the ribbon on the rehabilitated Monroe Street Bridge in the Brookland neighborhood of Ward 5, part of the District’s years-long effort to repair critical infrastructure.
The 86-year-old structurally deficient bridge was reconstructed with new infrastructure that improves safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicular traffic in the corridor. Since January 2015, the Bowser Administration has reduced the District’s inventory of structurally deficient bridges from 11 to four.
