Mayor Bowser Calls on DC Residents to Join this Saturday’s Day of Action and Talk to Neighbors About Getting Vaccinated

(Washington, DC) – Mayor Bowser is calling on DC residents to participate in this Saturday’s DC COVID-19 Community Corps Day of Action to help get more members of the community vaccinated as DC prepares to dial up additional activities later this week. On Saturday, May 22, volunteers will canvass neighborhoods at 9 am and 11 am to help Washingtonians who are not yet vaccinated make a plan to get vaccinated. Multiple local businesses will be supporting the Day of Action by providing free treats at vaccination sites, including We The Pizza slices at Arena Stage (beginning at 1 pm), a coupon for a free whiskey at The Pug at Rosedale Recreation Center for residents 21 and older, Baked by Yael cakepops at the Convention Center, and free beer at the 9:30 Club pop-up for residents 21 and older. Upcoming Vaccination Clinics

• MLK Deli Pop-up: Today, on Wednesday, May 19, between 4 pm and 8 pm, residents 21 and older can go to MLK Deli (3113 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE) to get the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a free ANXO cider, and to enjoy the sounds of the Backyard Band.
• Washington Nationals Pop-Up: On Friday, May 21, between 4 pm and 8 pm, and on Sunday, May 23, between 10 am and 2 pm, residents 18 and older can go to Nationals Park (First Base Gate, corner of 1st St and Potomac Ave SE) to get the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The first 200 fans each day will get a Nationals prize bag.
• PEPCO and Mary’s Center Pop-Up: On Saturday, May 22, between 10 am and 3 pm, residents 12 and older can go to the Pepco Benning Service Center (3400 Benning Road NE) to get the Pfizer vaccine.
• 9:30 Club Pop-Up: On Saturday, May 22, between 2 pm and 6 pm, residents 21 and older can go to the 9:30 Club (815 V St NW) to get the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and a free beer.

Currently, residents who are 12 and older can walk up to vaccination sites across the city without making an appointment to get their free COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals who received their first dose in DC should return to the same location for their second dose. Individuals who received a first dose out of state may bring their vaccine card to a walk-up location with the corresponding vaccine type to receive their second dose. A full schedule of the days and hours of the walk-up sites can be found on coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccinatedc. Residents are able to see approximate wait times, if there is a wait, at each site at coronavirus.dc.gov/dontwait.

The walk-up sites are in addition to the pharmacies, clinics, and health care providers that are also administering the vaccines citywide. These sites operate their own scheduling systems, and residents who prefer to make an appointment instead of visiting a walk-up site are encouraged to make an appointment at a pharmacy, clinic, or health care provider. Residents can find the closest available vaccination location at vaccines.gov or by texting their zip code to GETVAX (438829) in English, or VACUNA (822862) in Spanish.

Residents who are unable to leave home to get vaccinated can still call 1-855-363-0333 to make an appointment for a free at-home vaccination.

Friday, May 28 will be the last day of operations for the COVID-19 testing site at Judiciary Square. The Anacostia, UDC Bertie Backus, and fire station testing sites will continue to operate and individuals can continue to pick up and drop off free Test Yourself DC at-home testing kits at libraries across DC.
