Mayor Bowser Announces FY2017 Latino Community Grant Awards

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA) awarded a combined $1,286,000 in grant funding to 49 community-based organizations that serve the District’s Latino residents. Grants were made in amounts between $5,000 and $50,000 to each organization.

“Washington, DC is stronger because of the diversity of our community – including a growing Latino population. Not only does our Latino community contribute to our flourishing and thriving city, but they are an important part of the District’s development,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “We look forward to partnering with these community organizations to continue creating pathways to the middle class.”

The grant funding is aligned with the Bowser Administration’s priorities and is intended to enhance existing community programs focused on education, job and economic development, public safety, civic engagement, health and wellness, youth engagement, arts and the creative economy. Organizations were selected based on the degree to which they meet these priorities and target their efforts to underserved Latino communities.
