(Washington, DC) – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will hold its third summer employment hiring fair this Saturday, May 3, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Emery Recreation Center (5801 Georgia Ave., NW) to promote, and to accept applications for the more than 600 summer positions DPR has available for the 2014 summer season. Prospective applicants are encouraged to fill out the online summer hire application before attending the fair.
At the hiring fair, applicants can learn about the positions DPR is offering and engage the various division representatives. All applicants are asked to dress professionally in interview attire, and to bring both electronic and paper copies of their resumes.
The 2014 summer hiring application was released to the public on Feb. 3, and applications will be accepted throughout the summer. For more information about DPR's summer employment opportunities, position and program descriptions, please visit http://summer.dpr.dc.gov.
DPR is committed to hiring candidates who are highly qualified, and who are committed to providing positive workplace experiences. The following divisions are accepting summer applications:
•Summer Aquatics staff will have the opportunity to be pool managers, assistant pool managers, lifeguards and customer service representatives.
•Summer Camps staff will have the opportunity to be facilitators, assistant facilitators, counselors, activity specialists and more.
•Summer Operations staff will have the opportunity to be warehouse facilitators, drivers, assistants and more.
•Summer Roving Leaders and Safe Summer staff will have the opportunity to be facilitators and assistant facilitators.
•Summer Meals Program staff will have the opportunity to be senior food monitors, food monitors and administrative assistants.
•Summer Administrative staff will have the opportunity to work as associates at DPR's Central Office. Please note, these positions are in an office environment and professional attire is required.
All positions are seasonal (summer only), for 40 hours a week.

These positions are covered under D.C. Law 15-353, the Child and Youth, Safety and Health Omnibus Amendment Act of 2004, effective April 13, 2005, as amended. For that reason, all selected candidates for hire will be subject to criminal background checks, traffic record checks, or both, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additional information regarding these requirements will be available at the recruitment fairs and during new hire orientations.
